STEAMERS IN COLLISION.
By Telegraph—Press Association.' LYTTELTON, March 26. The small coastal steamers Storm and Wakatu collided last night off Motunau Island. The Storm was bound from LyttePton to Wanganui, and the Wakatu was coming from Kaikoura to Lyttelton. The exact circumstances of the accident are not known. The vessels seem to have headed at one another, and in an attempt to get clear the Wakatu struck tne Storm astern. A gaping hole was torn in the Wakatu's bow. The Storm's side was broken down above the deck, but no serious damage resulted. Both steamers returned to Lyttelton.
