WEDDINGS.

McGOVERN—McKENZIE. A wedding in which considerable interest was taken was celebrated at Mr Donald McKenzie's residence, "Woodlands," Wangaehu, on Thursday last, the contracting parties being Miss Catherine McKenzie, daughter of Mr D. McKenzie, and Mr James McGovern, of Bideford. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a beautiful dress of costly material and the orthodox veil and orange blossoms. Miss McGovern (sister of the bridegroom), and Miss Helen McKenzie (sister of the bride) were the bridesmaids, Mr John McGovern was best man, and Mr McKenzie groomsman. The marriage ceremony was Berformed by the Rev. A. T. Thompson. The wedding breakfast was held in a big marquee, and there was a large and representative gathering of settlers from the surrounding districts present. The Rev. A. T. Thompson proposed the health of the bride and bridegroom, and Mr James McGregor the toast of 'the parents of the bride and bridegroom, Messrs I). McKenzie and McGovern, senr., responding. A large number of valuable presents were received. Mr and Mrs McGovern left in the afternoon for the North, where the honeymoon is to be spent. BALFOUR—HUMPHRIES. At Greytown, on Thursday last, Mis Elsie Miidred Humphries, eldest daughter of Mr Henry Humphries, of Greytown, was married to Mr A. B. Balfour, of Greytown. The bridesmaids were Misses Constance Iveedweil, Zillah Humphries, Ruby Humphries, and Nellie Humphries. Mr Athol Rhodes (cousin of the bridegroom) was best man, and Mr L. Balfour (brother of the bridregoom) groomsman. SMITH—HUGHES. On Thursday afternoon last, at thp Presbyterian Church, Maryborough, Miss J. G. Hughes, of Maryborough, was married to Mr Robert Smith, of Waihenga. Misses Kickman and Winnie Orr were the I bridesmaids, and Mr J. Taylor was i best man.
