A NEW MAIL SERVICE.

Received Marc.j 25, 10.30 a.irn. MELBOURNE. March 25. The Federal Postmaster-General (Hun. Josiah Thomas) has received from the London Post Office an intimation that arrangements have been made for a regular mail service via San Frmcisco. to Papeete, Wellington, and Sydney. The Mariposa, from San Francisco, will connect with Pti-amers of the Union Cbmpanv at Papeete, and brine: on the mails to Australia. Owing to the recent 1 irregularity of the service from San Francisco by the Australian mail line, the new service will be used for correspondence via San Francisco.. Thd mail will be due in Sydney in from 41 to 45 days after its despatch from London.
