MASTERTON HOMING PIGEON CLUB.

RACE FROM WAIPAWA. The Masterton Homing Pigeoi Club flew its -young bird produce race from Waipawa yesterday afternoon. Five lofts sent twelve birds and a fast fly was the result. The stationmaster at Waipawa kindly liberated the pigeons at 11 a.m., and the winning bird "timed in" at its loft at 1.12 p.m., having covered the 85 miles airline in 2hrs 12mins. Mr F. B. Roeson acted as judge, and the following i 3 the result : Mr J. Bradbury's "Mistletoe," velocity 1,127 yds per minute 1 Mr H. M. Wilton's "Bhck and White," velocity 1,123 yds per minute 2 Mr H. F. Billington's "Laurel," velocity I,losyds 3 The work of the judge was lessened considerably by the use of the new velocity ready reckoner, which the Club has just imported frrom Home. This is the very latest publication of its kind, and is used by all the important clubs in the Old Country. Tne Club will soon be registered under the Unclassified Societies' Registration Act, 1895, and promises to become one of Masterton's most prosperous societies. Next Thursday the "Blue Ribbon" of pigeon flying will take place, when the young bird "Derby" will be flown Hastings. The majority of the members have held a few of their best Birds in reserve and given them a special preparation for this event, and an interesting raae should result.. The positions of the leading competitors for the aggregate are still in a very interesting stage. Mr J. Bradbury's win yesterday brings him from the third into first place with a total of 26 points, Mr W. Hoar with 25 points being second, and Mr H. W. Lett with 24 third, and Mr A. Miller fourth with 20 points. Mr H. Wilton, who did not fly in some of the earlier races, has come up well lately, and now has 14 points I to his credit.
