CHURCH AND THE WORKERS.
Th'7l CURE FOR SOCIAL v UNREST. After a long discussion on the proposal to set apart one Sunday in the year as a day for dealing with labour questions, the Methodist Conference of Victoria and Tasmania, sitting in Melbourne last week, agreed to the following resolution:—'' (1) That this conference approves of the proposal of the Council of, Churches to set apart a Sunday on which the problems ol our industrial life and their relations to all classes of the community in their Christian and ethical aspects may he brought before our people; (2) that this conference declares that the true cure for the present social unrest and discontent and the industrial friction between labour and capital is in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and that the conference rejoices that all sections of the community are found within the Church united in the bond of a common faith, and in common ideal of Christian life. It urges, in tne name of the Great Father of all, that the spirit of brothcrliness should govern all relations between employers and employed: (3) that a committee be appointed to draw up a declaration of the principles our Church holds in relation to modern and industrial problems and report to the next conference."
