At the annua! meeting of Parishioners of St. Matthew's Church in April, 1908, it was? decided that the organ should be enlarged. This has now been accomplished. The organ has been rebuilt and enlarged by Mr Arthur Hobday. The old tracker action has been replaced by tubular pneumatic action —the latter being much less susceptible to atmospheric changes. An extra keyboard or manual, named the Grand Organ, has baen added, als.o about 300 new pipes. Preparation has also been made for further additions in the pipes to the requiremants of a larger church. The dedication of the enlarged organ will take place this evening, and at the conclusion a recital will be given by the organist, Mr H. S. Claughton, the following being the programme: —Sonata, "No. 2"(Mendelssomi); Momen's Musicale, (Schubert); Recit., "Draw near unto Me," air, "Lord, God of Abraham," from "Elijah," (Mendelssohn), Mr F. Hunn; Grand Choeur (Guilmant) (a) Andante in P Minor, (b) Andante in G major (Batiste); Adagio in Free Style, Organ Concerto (Gustav Merkel). Ladies visiting Wellington should call upon Mrs Matthevson, millinery specialist, of Melbourne House, Lauibfcon Quay, and inspect the magnificent display of Easter inillinery now being displayed, All the very latest and most approved styles in hats to select from.—AdvtJJ
