Wheat—An Australian cargo sold at 39s ( Jd, 14,000 quarters of Febru-ary-March shipment at 40s, and a cargo and 8,000 quarters of MarchApril shipment at 40s 3d. Rabbits —The arrival of three cargoes eased the market. Large New South Wales sorts are retailing at 18s 6d to 19s; Victoria, 17s to 18s. New Zealand sheep—Canterbury heavy 3d, Southland none offering, North Island 213-16 d. best brands 3d, other sorts unchanged. New Zealand lambs—Canterbury light 4 15-16 d, medium 41d, heavy 4gd, Southland unquoted, North Island 4 7-16 d, other khds unchangsd. Australian sheep, lamb's, and beef unchanged. River Plate sheep and lambs unchanged. 1 River Plate beef —Fores 2§d, hinds unchanged.

Hemp—Slow of sale. An AprilJune shipment realised £22 15s.

Dalglety and Company, Limited, have received the following cable messages from their London house under dace of the 18th insian*:: — | Sheepskins. - Combing merino sheep- . skins are £d higher, combing crossl bred skins Jd higher, and clothing sheepskins in general are Jd lower. Wool.—Sales continue firm and prices are rather higher, especially for merino wools and crossbreds of fine quality. The remaining dates of our sales are altered to 24th March. Tallow. —Since our last wire prices are 6d per cwt lower. Frozen Meat.—The demand for all classes of New Zealand meat is limited. Market for New Zealand beef is weak, whilst for lamb and mutton it is weaker. Quotations are as follows: —New Zealand prime ox beef, fores, 2£d, hinds, 3d; New Zealand prime crossbred lamb, Canterbury, heavy, light, sd; North Island, heavy, 4£d light 4§d. New Zealand prime crossbred mutton, Canterbury, heavy, 3d, light, 3id; North Island, heavy, 2|d, light, 3£d.

HIGH COMMISSIONERS' REPORT.

The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated London, March 20th, 1909: The mutton market is overstocked, and depressed. There is little chance of any advance for some time, and stock is accumulating. Current quotations are—Canterburv mutton, 3id, North Island 2gd, River Plate 2|d per lb. The lamb market is weak, and there is a dull sale for all brands. Canterbury lamb is quoted at sd, and other than Canterbury at 4|d per lb. The beef market is quiet. Hindquarters are quoted at 3§d, and forequarters at 2|d per lb.

The butter market is quiet, but steady, current quotations being as follows: Choicest New Zealand ! 106s, Australian 102s, Danish Argentine 105s per cwt. The cheese market is firm, with a hardening tendency. There are signs of improvement in the price of cheese, white makes being quoted at 60s, and coloured at 64s per cwt." The hemp market is dull, and no immediate change is expected. Large shipments are arriving from Manila, hst week's output being 32,000 bales. Current quotations are —Spot, good fair grade, £23; fair grade, £2l; fair current Manila, £23; April-June shipments: Good fair grade, £22 10a; fair grade, | £2l; fair current Manila, £2l 10s.

The cocksfoot seed market is firm, and buyers have been offering more freely. Bright clean 171b seed is quoted at 80s. \ The kauri gum market is quiet, but steady. The following are the current quotations: Ordinary to fair threequarter scraped, 1655: fair half scraped, 105s; brown fair half to threequarter scraped, 90s; brown pickings common to good, 555; bush fair to good pale and amber scraped, 1608.

The hop market is very quiet, with nothing doing. The wool market is firm, with a good demand for all descriptions, and a halfpenny advance during this week.
