STOCK MARKET.
Messrs Dalgety ani Co., Ltd., report having held their monthly sale in their Alfredton yards on Thursday last. The yards were well filled with sheep, but few cattle came forward. Bidding under the hammer in most cases was dull, but lines passed in were afterwards sold privately. With the exception of one or two small pens, they sold the whole yarding. They quote:—Sheep. —•2 tooth ewes 10s 9d to 12s sd, 4 and 5 year old ewes 9s 9d to 10s 3d, aged ewes 7s 6d , 8s Id, 9s 2d to 9s Bd, 2-tooth wethers 9s 2d to 10s Id, lambs 6s Id to 6s 3d. Cattle.—lß months steers 30s, cows and calves, £2. 2% to 3year heifers £2 ss. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their'usual weekly sale in the Eketahuna yards yesterday. Stock of all descriptions came forward well above advertised numbers, but the sale, as regards bidding at auction, was very sbw, and vendors had rather a bad run. Breeding ewes were hard to quit, and good ewes were very hard to sell. Although the, weather is just as the farmers want, bidding was very dull. We quote:—Good breeding ewes lis to 12s 3d, full mouth ewes 7s 6d to 9s 6d, wethers 2-tooth small 8s 7d, 2 and 4-tooth wethers 9s 3d to 9s Bd, forward wethers to lis, lambs (forward) 7s fid to 8s 3d, rams (sold to full market rates) 1£ to 1\ guineas. Cattle.--4-year old bullocks £5 7s 6d, 3-year steers £3 15s, 2-year steers £2- 10s, 18 months steers £2 2s, mixed . 18 months steers and heifers 27s 6d, forward empty cows £2 10s to £3 12s 6d. Our next sale will be held next Friday, March 26th, and after that date every fortnight till further notice.
