The Attorney-General (Dr.Findlay) wrote stating that in view of contemplated amendments to the Bankruptcy Act, the writer would be pleased to receive suggestions regarding suitable amendments which the Chamber or*' members thereof might desire to submit. The Chairman said that as the matter was first on the agenda paper for the conference of delegates of the New Zealand Chamber of Commsree, the discussion there might answer all purposes. Mr Caselberg stated that he would prepare a paper for the conference on the subject of the social, economic and commercial effect of the carrying of .No-license on the trade of the Dominion. He would, however, like to know beforehand whether such a paper would be ia order*. It was decided to inquire of the Wellington Chamber, which is promoting the conference, whetheV such a paper would be in order.

Mr Graham brought up the matter of the discrepancy in the weights registered by the two weighbridges at Wellington and Masterton railway stations. The speaker quoted instances to show that the Masterton bridge weighed as much as eight cwt. more per truck than the Wellington bridge. Members agreed that this was a serious matter to local merchants and others, and it was resolved to draw the attention of. the Department to tha matter and to ask to have the bridge tested. It was resolved to inquire of the Palmerston North Chamber whether it,proposed to call a conference of Chamber delegates from districts interested in the better linking-up of the East and West Coast railway services, and if so to notify the Masterton Chamber of the date.
