WEDDINGS.

TOWNSEND—WICKENS. A wedding in which a great deal of interest was manifested o place at St. Matthew's Churci?, yesterday afternoon, the contracting parties being Mr 'Francis Henry Tuwnsend, of the staff of the Joe il Police Force, son of Mr J. A. Townsend, of Waikouaiti, Otago, and Miss Lottie Wickens, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Wickens, of Lincoln Road, Masterton. The Rev. H. Watson was the officiating Minister. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a pretty white chiffon taffetta, elaborately trimmed; with tucked nets and guipure insertion, Empire style, and the customary veil and orange blossoms. The bridesmaids were Misses Carrie Townsend, sister of the bridegroom, Edith Russell, cousin of the bride, and Miss Myrie Wickens, sister of the bride. Each were dressed in white Indian lawn, trimmed with embroidery and' white felt hats to match. Mr P. Doyle, of Wellington, and formerly of Masterton, man. A large gathering of friends. of the bride and bridegroom attended the church to witness the ceremony and the "Wedding March" was played by Mr H. S. Claughton, "as the party left the Church. A reception was afterwards held at the residence of the bride's parents, which was attended by a large circle jf friends. Numerous and valuable presents received testified verf strongly the general popularity of Mr and Mrs Townsend. Each of the bridesmaids received from the bridegroom a handsome gold bangle, suitably inscribed. Mr and Mrs Townsend left by the mail train in the afternoon, en route for Dunedin for a month's trip, amidst the congratulations of their many friends. The bride's travellingdress was a navy blue costume with green felt hat.

REYNOLDS—KEARY,

At St. Patrick's Church, yesterday, Miss Margaret Keary, of Mssterton, was married to Mr F. W. Reynolds, eldest .-:on of Mr John Reynolds, of Rose Bank, Brookhora, New South Wales. Mr J. Corbett was test man, and the Rev. Dean McKenna, conducted the marriage ceremony. The honeymoon is being spent at Rotorua. NICOLSON—DANIEL. (By Telergaph—Special to Wairarapa Age.) WELLINGTON, March 17. A wedding of considerable interest to residents of Carterton and to many people in Masterton was solemnised; at St. Paul's Cathedral to-day, when Miss Mabel Mary (Pearlie) DanieL eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs E. T. Daniel, of Wellington, was married to Mr Hector M. J. Nicolson, youngest son of Mrs D. Nicolson, of Melverton, Clareville. The bridegroom is well known in journalistic circles in Wellington and Wairarapa, being now attached to the "Otaki Mail" literary staff. The ceremony was attended by a very large number of relatives and friends of the couple, the bride being a very popular young lady, both on the West Coast and in Wellington, and the bridegroom also enjoying the esteem of an exceptionally wide circle of friends. The bride was attired in a beautiful dress of chiffon taffeta, semi-Em-pire style, trimmed with Oriental lace. She also wore a hand-worked bridal veil of original design, trimmed with real orange blossoms, and carried an exquisite shower bouquet. Mr Byron Brown, & Otaki, uncle of the bride, gave her away. There were four bridesmaids as follows:—Miss niece of the bridegroom, and Miss Ivy Ferguson, cousin of the bride, both dressed in white embroidered dresses, wearing green Merry Widow hats, and carrying shower bouquets, Miss Pauline Brown and Miss Una Bright, cousins of the bride, both dressed in blue silk and bearing silver sceptres. Mr Ralph V. King, of Carterton, acted as best man, Mr Claude Redmoncl, of Wellington, being groomsman. The bridegroom's gifts were; —To the bride, a diamond and ruby ring; and to the bridesmaids, gold brooches of quaint designs, each set with pearls. The bride's mother wore a black tailor-made costume, and a picture hat, and the bridegroom's mother black chiffon taffeta and black and white bonnet. The Rev. T. H. Sprott performed the ceremony. The Cathedral was beautifully decorated for the occasion, and Miss Eva Rash, a well-known wedding musical artist, supplied several bridal marches, and the other necessary music. After the ceremony a reception was held at Spiller's Hall, which was attended by over a hundred people. Included in a magnificent array of presents were gifts from various newspaper companionships, cheques for nearly £IOO and a grand piano. Mr and Mrs Nicolson left by the afternoon train for J'almerston North, where the honeymoon is to be spent:. The bride's going away dress was a wine-coloured tnilor-mada costume and black Merry Widow hat. Among the guests at the reception were the Hon. A. W. Hogg, M.P., Minister of Labour, who made a felicitous speech in response to the toast of the health of himself and.-.. Mrs Hogg, and Mr W. H. Beethani, of Masterton, who proposed the to.»st of the health of the bride and L'r.degroom.
