A FOOLISH JOKE.
A MUSICIAN TREATED TO SHEEP-DIP. Mr Frank O'Shannessey, wellknown in Napier musical circles, was the victim of a very serious practical joke on Saturday night last. He was spending the evening at the house of Mr J. Reilly, and after rendering a song, was asked by a young lady from Dannevirke, who was visiting the house, if he would like a glass of hop beer. Mr O'Shannessey agreed to the suggestion, and the girl handed him a cup containing what lookeJ in the semi-darkness like beer. He swallowed most of the contents and said he was poisoned. The girl replied that it was sheepdip which she used fitr her hair. The victim of the joke immediately cycled to Dr T. C. Moore's, where he oollapsed on arriving. ' Dr Edgar waa also called m, and prompt measures were taken. Mr O'Shannessey, improved slightly on Monday, but his condition yesterday was such as to cause his friends some anxiety. The girl states that she administered the dip as a joke, not for a moment considering it would have such serious results.
