PROPOSED LADIES' BATHS.

WORK TO BE PROCEEDED WITH. At the Borough Council meeting, last evening, it was reported that ihe Trust Lands Trustees were unable to see their way to make a grant towards the £SOO donation made by Dr W. H. Hosking for the erection of~a ladies' swimming bath. The Mayor (Mr P. L. Hollings) stated that seeing this was the cass the only course left open to the Council was to proceed with the erection of the baths. The speaker had seen Dr Hosking that afternoon, and the latter had stated emphatically that he would like to see the baths erected on a site in the Park. The Mayor thought that the Committer which had already been appointed to considar the matter should be authorised t« proceed with the preparation ot plans and specifications and other preliminaries in connection with the work. The matter of the actual site could be arranged later. Crs Pauling and Pragnell spoke against the motion, both being in favour of erecting the bath>* in Dixon Street. The motion, which was seconded by Cr Ewington, who expressed pleasure at the decision of Dr Hosking in selecting the Park as a place for the baths, was carried.
