WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES.

Let-in and Company, Limited, report as follows regarding fcrMay s , sale:-We offered 5,500 skins, 1,200 hid\s and calfskins, and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. There was a large attendance of buyers, and throughout the sale extreme spirit prevailed. There was no change in the market, but for green skins there was strong demand at high prices. We'quote:—Fine crossbred 6d to 7d, crossbreds 5d to 6Jd, dead skir,s 3d to 5Jd, dead hoggets 3d to 44d, green p-dts Is 9d to 3s 3d, lamb pelts Is to lssd. Tallow.— Firm. Parcels in shipping order, £24; tins, £lB to £2l 10s; rough fat, £lO to £l4. Horsehair.- Is to Is 4d per lb. Horns.—ss to 16s per hundred. Cow-tails-ls 3d to Is 6d per dozen Hides. —We again brought forward a good catalogue, which drew strong competition at full prices. We quote :—Ox hides heavy 62: dto 7Ad, ox hides medium 6d to 6§d, ox hides light 5d to 6d, cow hides 5d to 6d, cut and siippv hides 2d to sd, stag hides 2Jd to 4Jd. bull hides 2d to 41d, calf best.Td to 8&d, calf medium 6d to 7d, calf cut land slippy 3d to 4d Our next sale will be held on Friday, March 26th, 1909. IThe New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agencv Company, Limited, report as under:-At our sale we broughtjiorward a large catalogue of skins and hides, and a small quantity of talloA-. There was a numerous attendance of buyers, and competition was keen for all sound lots of skins and hides, but faulty lots were neglected. Since 29th January, when the last sale of dry skins was held locally, prices have advanced about Jdlper lb for sound skins and prices for good hides are about equal to the sale of 12th Febrruay, but sound calfskins are about |d lower. We quote:-"Sheepskins.—Fine crossbred 6Ad to 7d, coarse and medium crossbred sid to 6d, lambs 4Jd to 6kl, dead and e ß broken skins 3id to sd, pelts sound 33d to 43d, pelts faulty Id to 3£d, pelts green Is 9d to 2s lid, lamb skins green Is 9d to 2s 6d. Hides.-Ox medium ssd to 6d, cow heavy sid to sgd, cow and ox light 5d to Bid, damaged hides 2d to 4£d, calfskins sound t 6d to 7£d, calfskins faulty 2d to 4&d. Tallow. —ln casks in shipping order £2o 10= to £24 ss. . Dalgety and Company. Limited, offered a large catalogue of all classes to a good attendance of buyers. Competition was t keen throughout the sale. They quote:— Sheepskins.— Prices for better sorts showed an advance of about \i\.
