LIBEL SUITS.
ALLEGATIONS AGAINST MR LLOYD-GEORGE. DAMAGES PAID. LONDON, March 12. The newspaper '-'People" has apologised and agreed to pay £I,OOO damages for libelling the Right Hon. D. Uoyd-George (Chancellor of the Exchequer). The paper alleged that Mr Lloyd-George had paid twenty thousand pounds to avoid being cited in a divorce suit. The paper "Bystander" also apologised and paid £3OO to charity in connection with a similar libel. Eeceived March 14, 4.30 p.m. LONDON, March 13. Mr Lloyd-George, giving evidence Sn the witness box, Sftid that there was not the slightest foundation for any statements made by the newspaper "People." The Judge considered that Mr Lloyd-George acted in extreme moderation.
