THE MAIL SERVICES.
The American Government are making a great effort to establish an up-to-date service between San Francisco and Australasia, and will assuredly succeed in finally influencing Congress, remarks the ''New Zealand Herald." New Zealand has the opportunity, by taking prompt and business-like action, to facilitate this American scheme, and to arrange terms which would be altogether advantageous, for at p. moderate cost we can thus secure swift, certain, and convenient mail communication, with London by commodious and attractive liners connecting with the American trunk railways and the Atlantic ferry.
