PERSONAL.

Mr L. Bradstock, of Rongokokako, has been appointed assistant teacher at the Hutt School. Mr and Mrs G. W. Deller, of Carterton, will leave at the end of next month on a trip to England. Dr Webb, of Martiriborough, has been elected medical officer for Loysl Martinborough Lodge, 1.0.0. F., M.U. Mr and Mrs H. H. Wolters left Carterton yesterday en route to England, writes our correspondent. They will leave Wellington to-cfay. Miss Clara Clifton, of the Royal Comic Opera Company, was recently married in Melbourne to Mr Cartwright. Mr Harold Thorley, the operatic baritone, who visited Australia in 1903 as a member of Williamson's Opera Company, has returned under engagement to Meynell and Gunn. The many friends of Mr and Mrs Kitchen, of Carterton, will regret to hear of the death of their onlydaughter, Dorothy Alice, which occurred somewhat suddenly at their residence yesterday afternoon. Mr Allan Thomson, the first New Zealand Rhodes Scholar, wa3 married yesterday to Miss Keam, of Dunedin. They will leave immediately for Au3tral'ia. where Mr Thomson has an important engagement to fulfil prior to taking up duties at Victoria College.

Mr W. Robinson, who has been a pro ninsnt member of the Cartsrton Brass- Band for some time, has received an appointment in Mr J. S. Pepper's boot store at Greymouth, and will leave in the course of a few days to take up his duties there, writes our Carterton correspondent. To mark their regret at his departure, the Band presented Mr Robinson with a brief bag. Tbe death occurred at Taupo early yesterday morning of Judge Reeve, of the Native Land Court. The deceased waa only appointed judge >:ome eight months ago, and for some time past he has been in ill-health. He was a native of Auckland, and at one time a prominent athlete in the Northern city. The deceased, who was about 38 years of age, leaves a widow and two children.

At the meeting of the Masterton School Committee last evening, referenca to the departure from the district of two very enthusiastic and valuable members of the Committee was made by the Chairman (Mr R. Brown). Eulogistic remarks were general from the Committee as to the excellent work done by Mr H. H. Cork ami the Rev. J. N. Buttle, the two members referred to, and the best wishes were expressed for the future welfare of both these gentlemen. The complimentary remarks were suitably replied to by the recipients thereof, who each emphasised the splendid co-operation of members of the Committee in all the work carried out by them, and ex pressed their keen regret at severing from the Committee.
