INTERESTING FIGURES. OFFICIAL ASSIGNEE'S STATEMENT. A return has been prepared by Mr Alex. Simpson, O-fiicial Assignee at Wellington, showing the transactions in bankruptcy last year in the districts over which he has control. The principal figures for 1908 are given below, those for the previous year being in parentheses. There were 38 bankruptcies in Wellington last year, of which six were on adjudications by the debtors themselves. The total number in the previous year was 45. The assets shown in the statements filed last year were £38,366 19s Bd, as compared with £39.504 19s 6d in the previous year. The liabilities for 1908 were£s2,o9B SslOd, asagaiust £20,614 2s 9d. The assets realised by the Assignee totalled £3,919 Us, as compared witn £3,505 5=3 101 in 1907. The amount ot debts prjveJ was £29,719 10s lOd, as against £21,565 3s 7d. The dividends paid last year totalled £1,185 14?, as against £933 9s 3d. The cost incurred in 1909 in carrying on the estates for the benefit o! creditors was £337 9s 61, the amount for 1907 being £358 3s 4d.
