DIRECT STEAMERS.
CANADIAN SUBSIDY. Received March 4, 10 p.m. OTTAWA, March 4. r Owing to the Franco-Canadian Convention, Canada is increasing the subsidy to direct steamships from £15,000 to £40,000 annually. The speed of the vessels is to be increased, and voyages are to be more frequent.
