POLICE ME&WM, _, FATE OF A TERRORIST.- X STATEMENT BY M. STOLYPYnIST. PETERSBURG, Feb. 26. Conflicting accounts are current" regarding the fate of Azeff, the Terrorist. Some state that he was murdered in Russia; others declare that he is hidden there. A member of the Duma read in the Uhan.ber a letter from Azeff to a police official, lauding himself for founding the Terrorist organisation, and for acts including the murder of the Grand Duke Sergius. The Premier, M. Stolypin, declared that Azeff, had been an ordinary police agent, to wham revolutionists ascribed legendary qualities and colossal crimes. He denied the possibility of Azeff having participated in ■ the murdars of M. de Plehve, Miniser of the Interior, and the Governor cfUfa, and said that after Azeff had joined -the Central Revolutionary Com.Tntfe'e, not a single political murder Had been committed. There was nothing but the revolutionists' word 1 to show that Azeff ever participated in a Terrorist act M. Stolypin added that the Government would relentlessly punish agents who provoked crimes. However, as long as a reign of terror I lasted the spy service must continue. ] M. Lopukhin, who betrayed Azeff to the Revolutionaries, would shortly be tried.
A SATISFACTORY EXPLANATION. Received February 28, 4.44 p.m. ST. PETERSBURG, Feb. 27. The majority of the members of the Duma are satisfied with M. Stolypin'3 explanation regarding Azeff, and are confident that the Government will use all lawful means to combat Terrorism.
MURDER AND ROBBERY. POLISH SOCIALISTS EXECUTED. Received February 28, 4.44 p.m. ST. PETERSBURG, Feb. 27. Five members of the fighting section of the Polish Socialist Party have been executed at Warsaw for murder and robber>.
