WAIRARAPA P. AND A. SOCIETY.

(From Our Resident Reporter). ; The general committee of the Wairarapa and East Coast Pastoral and • Agricultural Society met yesterday, Mr H. R. Bunny presiding. A debit , balance was reported of £348 15s 9d. MriT. Arthur, railway superintendent, wrote in reference "to the complaint regarding dirty trucks being provided/for the conveyance of stock from Carterton to Palmerston North on the occasion of the recent Show. Mr Arthur stated that after careful inquiry he was unable to ascertain whether or not dirty trucks had been supplied, but precautions would in future be taken to prevent a recurrence. The secretary of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association wrote to say that Mr Gilruth. had stated he was adverse to testimonials, so the matter of arranging one for him had been dropped. A communication was received from the Manawatu A. anci P. Asfociation suggesting a conference of delegates from the various societies to discuss a system of concessions. Messrs Rcid and Eagle were appointed delegates. The National Sheepbreeders' Association notified that the International Conference would be held on. June 21st. Messrs Wolters and Deller were appointed delegates. The Feathers'o i Chamber of Commerce wrote soliciting the Society's support in an endeavour to get the Railway Department to let the 6.30 a.m. train from Masterton start from Featherstofi, and that the 5.10 p.m. train from Palmerston North be accelerated to catch the 9.5 train from Masterton or the latter delayed until the arrival of the former to enable South Wairarapa people to • make a one-day trip to Palmerston Noi'th. It was reported that Mr W. C. Buchanan, M.P., was arranging . for an interview with the Minister, 1 and it was resolved that the dele--3 gates who had previously acted in r the matter should again be called to- . gether. Mr D. P. Loasby, chairman of the

deputation that interviewed the Minister in reference to Mr W. C'. Buchanan's offer for an experimental farm for Wairarapa, forwarded a re:port of the.result and suggested that the matter should not be allowed to drop, but that public meetings be convened in each town, and the feeling obtained on the subject. It was decided to again approach the Minister in reference to the matter. Mr C. Holmes and Messrs Manson and Barr resigned as members, and Messrs 0. Helfernan, W. Tucker, W. J. Dickered), H. Adamson and L, A. Bishop were elected members.
