RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
TRAIN HURLED OVER A CLIFF. TWfiNTY-FJVE PERSONS KILLED. A. TERRIBLE SCENE. Received February 25. 9.45 p.m. QUITO (Eucador), Feb. 25. A terrible railway accident, attended by loss of life, is reported from Riobamba (in the province of Chimborazo, and situated 102 miles south of Quito), a town that was in 1797 overwhelmed by an earthquake that cost 30,000 lives. A train heivi'y laden with passengers was derailed near Riobamba, and before it could be brought to a standstill was hurled over a cliff, a distance of 100 feet. A terrible scene that beggars description folbwed. A number of the carriages were smashed to matchwood. Twenty-five persons were killed in the accident, and forty injured.
