"ALL MOONSHINE."
Received February 24, 9.30 p.m SYDNEY, February 24.
Chinese merchants characterise "Mr Levien's statements as wild, and all moonshine. They point out that if coolies were permitted to come to Australia it would simply mean taxing indiscriminately heavy those already here. The newcomers would not be able to obtain work, and merchants would have to keep them or subscribe money and send them back .to China. Merchants were prepared if Mr Levien can prove thft organr isations for smuggling Chinese to Australia exist, to render every assistance to the Government in sunpressing them.
