. i (From Our Resident Reporter). Monday. -Colonel Graham, a .pioneer officer of the Salvation Army, will hold a special meeting in the local barracks on Friday evening next. That one cannot be too careful when handling rusty nails, has been brought in evidence ,by an accident to Miss Amy Wilde, a young daughter of Mr John Wilde, of Carterton. A few days back she was hammering a rusty nail, when it pricked her right thumb. No notice was taken of the scratch at the time, until it became painful. Medical aid was i eventually sought, and the thumb lancsd. It will be some weeks before it is well. The local Tennis Club has received a challenge from the Featherston Club for a match for Saturday next. Carterton is unable to arrange a match for that date, and has replied suggesting Thursday .week. The Rev. W. J. Elliott, superintending Minister of the bouth Wairarapa Methudist Church, left this afternoon to attend the Conference at Wellington. He .anticipates being absent a fortnight. The numerous friends of Constable Carmoiy will regret to hear that he jis at'present an inmate of f : the Grey- | town Mospital. Some time back he suffered an injury to his leg, which I did not thoroughly heal up. Or. Sunday an operation was performed, | which will lay Constable Carmody up for a week or two.
