MASTERTON v. PAHIATUA. A match between the Pahiatua and. j Masterton Lawn Tennis Clubs was played on the grounds of the Masterton Club on Saturday afternoon last, and resulted in a win for the local team. The following are the scores, (Masterton players being mtaticKed", first in each case) .- C. C. Cox beat J. G. Swainson,, 6—l, 6-3. A. R. Sclanders beat O. H„ Druce, 6—4, 3—6, 6—4. J. G. Bee beat Ulrich, 6 —S„ 6—3. N. H. James v. S. Reeve, drawn, 1 set each. H. W. Rishworth lost to Collins, 6—3, 3—6, I—6. E. J. Mirams beat Bolton, 6—4, 5 —6, 6—o. H. H. beat R. Beetham r 6—5, 5—6, 6—4. H. M. Boddington lost to T„ Beetham, 6 —4, 5 —6, 5 —6. Cox and Sclanders beat Swainson, and Druce, 6 —2, I—6, 6—l. Bunting and Bee beat Ulrich and Collins, 6—l, 6—3. Mirams and Pavitt v. Bolton and Beetham, drawn, 1 set each. Masterton thus won by seven win® to two, two matches being drawn. Afternoon tea was kindly supplied by the lady members of the local Club, and was much appreciated by the players and numerous spectators present. MASTERTON CLUB. Entries for a Men's Handicap Doubles Competition will be received by Mr A. R. Sclanders, hon. sec., up till 6 p.m. on Saturday, February 27th, and in this connection p'ayers; are requested to enter in pairs. Oct Saturday next it has been decided t® hold a second "Yankee" Handicap Doubles Tournament, the entries for which will close with tie hon. secretary at 5 p.m. on Fridsy, 26th inst. Plavers'in this event will also enter in pairs. A match against the Carterton, Lawn Tennis Club is being arranged to be played on the Masterton courts on Saturday, March 6th.
