DALGETY AND CO. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report as follows: —The annual Ram Fair was brought to a close yesterday when flock sheep of all descriptions were offered. The attendance was very satisfactory a large number of buyers being present. The sale commenced with flock Komneys, and for this breed of sheep bidding could not be called spirited, only exceptionally good rams commanding anything like keen competition. The quality of the Romnejs offered was on the whole good, inferior rams were quite neglected and many pens bad to be turned out without a bid being received. English Leicesters were very saleable at good average prices and this year there was keener competition for this breed of ram than has been the case for some years past. Doubtless this is accounted for owing to the fact that breeders who were inte.ested in the fat lamb trade appreciated the fact that Southdowns were likely to rule at exceptionally high prices, and failing being able to buy the latter class i of ram,,some attention as given to ' English Only a small | entry of border Leicesters was cata- I logued, and these rams did not command much attention. Southdowns I were very keenly enquired for, and j spirited bidding was elicited for all ; sheep offered. Sume very high prices were obtained for flock rams of this breed, and the entry was hardly sufficient to meet all enquiries. Shropshires were very saleable; som i exceptionally good sheep were offered and satisfactory prices obtained, for all rams showing any quality.
