Wednesday. The supply of milk to the cheese factory is keeping up very well. The weather has been exactly what is wanted for dairying in this districtabout one week's fine warm sun and then a day or two showery. The wind changed round to the south .on Thursday and since then, although not much rain has fallen, the weather has been uncertain and showery. The Dairy Company will pay out for the four weeks ending January 30th, £929 15s Id at an advance of 8d per lb of butter fat. Two hundred and twenty four boxes were consigned to London by the Kaikoura and 204 will go forward this week to be consigned by the next outward steamer. Ths country all arcund is looking fresh and green, with an aoundance nf feed, and haystacks are to be seen in all directions.

A number of new houses have been built in the district lately, and several more are now in the course of construction. A handsome residence is being built for Mr Alberthsen on his farm, almost opposite tne school.

Some of the sawmills have started work again, but orders for timber are coming in slowly.
