THE BUILDING TRADE.
BOOM IN BRISBANE.
By Telegraph—Press Association
WELLINGTON, February 17,
Frequent complaints have recently been made that there is a dearth of employment in New Zealand for carpenters. The following might be good news for carpenters who are uut of work in the Dominion: —"A gentleman well-known in business circles in the city is in receipt of correspondence from a large building contractor in Brisbane who states that just now there is a bit of a boom in the building trade in Brisbane with the result that there is a deai'th of tradesmen. I understand that things in New Zealand at the present time are dull, and that trade is fairly slack. I know that during the time of depression here a good many Queensland workmen went over to your Dominion in search of employment, and possibly if they knew that things were on the up grade here they would come back again.'"
