A SUBMERGED OBJECT.

The master of the barquentine Mary Isabel, on arrival at Kaipara, from Dunedin, reported that she passed at 11.30 a.m., February 10th, in latitude 42deg. 30min. south and longitude 174 deg. smin. east, some submerged object with the sea breaking over it, and around it for a distance of about 150 and 200 feet. The weather was fine and cloudless, with a moderate northerly sea. He tried to work the ship nearer, but light winds and head sea prevented him doing so.
