We held our fortnightly -.-Je on Imv No wool was offered, all now coming to hand being held for the sale on 19th February, and all dry skins are being held over until after the wool sale. There was the usual attendance of buyers. We offered 300 hides and calf.kins and a quantity of tallow and horsehatir. Skins:—We quote —Fine crossbred 6d to 7d, crossbreds od to 6Jd, dead skin-3 3d to s:id, dead hoggets 3d to 4Jd, green pelts Is 6d to 2s Bd, lamb skins 2s to 2s 7d, lamb pelts 9d to Is 3d. TallowFirm. parcels in shipping order £24, tins £lB to £2l 10s, rough fat £lO to £l4. Horsehair —Is to Is 3d per lb. Horns—ss to 17s 6d per hundred. Cow tails—ls3 dto Is 6d per dozen. Hides—There was good competition, but the extreme prices obtained last sale were hardly obtainable to-day. We quote:—Ox hides (heavy) 7d to 7§d ox hides (medium) 6d to 6gd, ox hides (light) 5d to sfd, cow hides 5d to 51 d, cut and slippy hides 2d to Ud, stag hides 2Jd to 4Jd, bull hides 2dto2£d, calf best 7d to 81 d, calf medium 6ci to 7d, calf cut and slippy 3d to 4d. Our next sale will be held on Friday, 26th February. The New Zealand Loan and Merj cantilc Agency Company, Limited, ! report as follows:- Our fortnightly sale was held on Friday, when _we ' offered green and salted skins, hides J and tallow. Owing to the large quan- | tity of wool coming forward for the fourth sale to be held next week, it was found impracticable to <ffe' dry skins to-day. These will be offered at the usual sale on 12th March. Bag wool is also being held for the next sale. We quote:—Green pelts and salted Is 9d to- 2s 6d each, lamb skins 2s to 2s 6d each. Hides Ox medium s£d to s£d per lb, cow heavy 5Jd to sfd,cow light 4fd to 5Jd, damaged hides 2£d to 4d, calfskins sound sgd to Bd, calfskins damaged Id to 4|d. Tallow—ln tins 20s 3d per cwt.
Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held their fortnightly sale of skins, hides and tallow, on Friday last, when they offered a fair catalogue to a good attendance of buyers. ComDetition was keen throughout the nale. Wool: Only bag lots were offering. Prices were as follow: Crossbred, inferior, 4.1 d to 4Jd; lambs, 4Jd; black, 3|d; dead, 3£d; pieces, 23 d; locks, l£d to 2£d. Skins: Only green lots offering. Pelts, 6d to Is 6d; lambs, lid to Is lOd. Hides: No prime lots offering. Competition was good, especially for cow 3. Prices were: —Ox, 52 to 371bs, s£d to 6ftd; 9 to 411bs, sgd to 5Jd; slippy, 3£d to 4gd; cow, 40 to 49lbs, 5£ r i; 23 to 361bs, sj!d to sgd; cut, 4d to s{d; slippy, 3d to4gd; stag, 671 bs, 4Jd; slippy, 3i ! d; cdf, bestSgd; medium, 6}d to 7£d; inferior, 3Jd to sd; yearlings, cut, 4gd. Tallow: In shipping order, 23s|6d: in oil casks, 22s 6d: in tins, 20s 6d.
