All the small children received a prize, while good prizes were given to the elder children who won races! Great interesti was taken in the married, ladies aid the old school girl races, Mrs Lawrence winning the former, and Miss Lizzie #ourke the latter. The married men's race was won by Mr E. The Pahiatua Racing Club-Com-mittee will meet at the Commercial Hotel on Tuesday evening next. GENERAL. At tne meeting of dairy farmers at Woodville on Wednesday to consider the advisability of starting a proprietary cheese factory, nearly 500 cows were guaranteed. Several farmers were present from Fapatawa, and 300 cows were guaranteed by them if a factory were erected at that place. As the latter place is too far distant from where the proposed Woodville factory is to be built, it is more than likely that two factories will be erected. The dairymen are very enthusiastic over the subject, and speak highly of the success achieved by Mr Reeves at his factory at Mangatainoka. Dr. Beard, who has been away for a short holiday has returned much improved in health. He states that he has considerably benefited by the trip. Dr. Gallogan, who has been acting for Di. Beard during the latter's absence will return to Wellington on Monday next. The manager of the Hamua Creamery informed me this that the milk supply to the factory was keeping up well this season, and the test was very good, the average being about 4. At the residence of Mr A. Gardiner, Nikau, yesterday, Mr A. J. Patchett was married to Miss 0. E. M. Gardiner, both being residents of the Bush. The Makomako School picnic will be held on Friday, February 19th.
