CARTERTON.
(From Our Own Correspondent). Friday. Mr and Mrs M. Jes3on, who have for some time past been residing in the Manawatu district, have returned to Carterton to take up their residence here. Mr and Mrs Jesson were among the early settiers of this district. The Carterton Gun Club hold a shoot to-morrow afternoon in Messrs Shaw and Cole's paddock. A meeting will afterwards be held for the purpose of electing a secretary in place of Mr C. S. Beechey, who has resigned ths position. A pleasant social evening wps held last night in th« Methodist Schoolroom by the choir, wheu there was a good attendance. Last evening the Rev. L. Thompson, of St. Andrews' Church, who was recently married, was the recipient of a massive sideboard as a wedding gift from the Gladstone and Carterton congregations. The presentation was made by Mr McFarlane, and the Rev. Mr Thompson suitably responded. The sideboard bears a silver plate, inscribed: "Presented to the Rev. L. Thompson, on the occasion of his marriage', by the Carterton and Gladstone congregations, January 26th, 1909."
