(Frjm Our Resident Reporter). • " I. BOWLING. Thursday. Three rinks of the Pahiatua Club played three rinks from the Masterton Club at Masterton yesterday, Pahiatua winning by 70, games to 65. Following are the scores:— Pearcy, Ashcroft, Mitchell, Ransome, skip, (Pahiatua), 21, beat Wingate, Kins, Rig?, Cameron, skip (Masterton), 17; Burgess, Walah, Wakeman, Newark, skip,(Pahiatua), 29, beat'Finlayson, Smith, Rose, Whittaker, skip (Masterton), 16; Levien, Mills, Hunter, Mcßrabey, skip (Pahiatua), 20, lost to Cole, J. Hunter, Townsend, Prentice, skip (Masterton), 32. The, visitor speak highly of the hospitality extended to them by the Masterton Club. r; WOODVILLE SHOW. His Excellency the Governor, Lord Plunket, has consented to open the : forthcoming Woodviile Show. The | entries considerably exceed the number, received last year. Trie I sheep entries total 207, the horse | entries 197, while all the other classes are well filled. THE "KILTIES." The ''Kilties" Band arrived here to-da/bythe 12.30 p.m. train from Masterton, After luncheon the Band marched from the Drill Hall to the Bank of New Zealand corner, and from there to Mr D. Crewe's grounds. Light showers fell at .intervals during the morning, and heavier rain set in when the afternoon performance was about to begin, making things very unpleasant for . both the bandsmen and the general public, as well as stopping;'*.,large 'number of people from attending. The stand was partly covered in, and the "Kilties" played stirring music for one hour. Before the performance began, the Mayor (Mr D. Crewe) publicly welcomed the Band to Pahiatua, regretting that the weather,was so unpleasant. Willing hands arj at present ar-, ranging seating accommodation in the Drill Hall, where it has been decided to hold tho evening performance. It is to be hopsd that the weather will break before to-night'u entertainment begins, so that the syndicate wh:> guaranteed the money will not be the losers by bringing to Pahiatua one of the crack tour- , ing' Bands. v .
