MASTERTON COUNTY COUNCIL.
FINANCE COMMITTEE. The Finance Committee met yesterday morning, Grs Murray (in the chair), Forman, Miller, Colquhoun, Welch and Morns. The Treasurer reported:—Bank, general fund account, dr £3,962 Is 4d; local bodies loan account, cr £794 0s 6d; accounts, dr balance £3,347 5s lOd; receipts, £521 3s . Accounts amounting to £1,299 12s 7d were passed for payment. The Council recommended that a letter from Mr W. Gillespie, asking whether it would be necessary to hold a Licensing Committee election this year, be referred to the County Solicitor. An offer from Messrs Com.pton ■and Price to remove Mr Attenborrow's cottage on the widened stretch of Upper Plain Road was referred to the Committee dealing with that work.
On the motion of Cr Welch, it was resolved to hold over, until the loan moneys were available, consideration of a claim made by Mr W. H. Cruickshank for a refund of the amount lodged with the Council to cover preliminary costs in connection with Opaki-Lansdowne water supply schemes, together with the sum paid by Mr F, H. Wood for plans and other expenses incurred by the promoters.
