COLONIAL OFFICE AND THE COLONIES.
TOUR OF SIR C. LUCAS. Received February 9, 8 a.m. LONDON 0 , February 8. A Colonial Office official, interviewed, remarked that the proposed visit of Sir Charts Lucas, head of the Dominions ' Department of the Colonial Office, to Australia and New Zealand, was intended to be the forerunner of others. Sir Charles Lucas was prepared to freely discuss every conceivable subject the Ministers of the Colonies may dasice discussion upon. After visiting West Australh, Sir Charles will proceed to Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Hobart, New Zealand, and Fiji, and will probably return via Canada. He is expected to be absent for six months. All the details of his movements will be left to his own discretion. The Agents-General an I the Hon. W. Hail-Jones (High Commissioner for New Zealand) predict a "ordial welcome for Sir Charles Lucas and beneficial results from his visit to the colonies.
