CARTERTON NEWS.
(From Our Resident Reporter). Monday. This morning 22 trucks nf sheep consigned to the Gear Company were forwarded from the tacal railway station to Petone. Yesterday 30 cases of cheese from Mr Rayner's private fartory were consigned from here to Wellington for shipment in the Cornwall to London. The Tararua Tennis Club have received a challenge from the Martinborough Tennis Club to play a match there on Saturday, February 20th. A quiet wedding was celebrated here this afternoon, whan Miss Lessie Fairbrother, only daughter of Mr and Mrs G. A. Fairbrother, was married to Mr G. E. Fowler, of the Post Office staff, Kaiapoi. The cere-
mony was performed at the residence of the bride's parents, Rhodes street, by tne Revs. W. J. Elliott and B. H. Ginger, in the presence of a number of relatives, and friends. The bride was given away by her father, and wore a white parlotta silk dress, trimmed with insertion and French knots together with the orthodox veil and orange blossoms. The bridesmaids were Miss Louie Mack, of Wellington, who was attired in a dress of pale green ninow, and a picture hat, and carried a shower bouquet, and Miss Eva Fairbrother, niece of the bride, who was attired in a cream silk dress with pink ribbons, and carried a basket of flowers. Mr R. Williams was best man. The bridegroom's present to his bride was a handsome gold bracelet, and to the bridesmaids a gold necklet with locket, and a silver toilet box, respectively. Mr and Mrs Fowler left later by train for their future home at Kaiapoi.
