MASTERTON A. AND P. ASSOCIATION. '-MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE. The General Committee of the 'Masterton A. and P. Association met on Saturday afternoon. There were present Messrs D. McGregor, junr. (Chairman), G. Harper, W. Cooper, W. D. Watson, A. Donald, C. F. Vallance, W. Ferry, J. Strang, H. Morrison, Q. Donald, T. P. Lett, Eland Rayner, W. J. Welch, G. C. Summerell, J. P. Perry, 0. C. Cooper, Jos. Morris. D. Caselberg. R. J. Dagp, J. D. Cruickshank, 0. Percy, A. J. Percy, H. A. Matthews, J. E. Perry, R. Smith. Leave of absence was granted to Messrs A. J. Stonewigg and J. C. McKillop. The Hon. A. W. Hope, Minister for Labour and Customs, wrote acknowledging with thanks a letter of congratulation from the ComThe Secretary of the Presbyterian Summer School wrote thanking the Association for the free use of the Showgrounds f>r the purposes of the school. A letter was received from Mr W. J. Lovelock, of Palmerston North, ■ expressing disappointment at the fact that uo mecals were offered in the classes for champions, and that there were only three classes, j "/The secretary stated that he had re- | plied to the letter, stating that it i was now toD late to alter the j schedule. Mr Frank Day was appointed marshal of the Hereford class vice MrStone-Wigg, the latter having met with an accident likely to keep / him from attending the Show. The Luncheon Committee recom- . mended, on the motion of Mr Lett, that a smoke concert for the enter- ■ tainment of the judges be held in the new luncheon room or. the first night of the Show, a charge to be made to cover expenses. Mr Lett .stated, in support of the motion, that in other places similar functions were held, and he thought > that the Masterton Association could with advantage adopt the suggestion. * Several members thought that such an affair would entail too much upon members at such a busy time, Mr W. Perry stating that at Palmertson ; North a similar entertainment had not proved entirely successful. j The recommendation was rejected - by a large majority. The Finance Committee recommended the passing of accounts, amounting to £SI, for payment. At a'meeting of the Ground Committee," an application from Mr 0. C.
