THE DAIRY REGULATIONS.
By Telegraph—Press Association. . AUCKLAND, February 5. The dairy regulations which were introduced last session came in for some discussion at this morning's meeting of the Auckland Provincial Exective of the New Zealand Farmers' Union. The President (Colonel Allen Bell') said the majority of the farmers were ■in favour of dairy regulations of Some kind buc he thought the Union should call together conferences of farmers to discuss the new regulations. Mr Wilson thought the suggestion a good one. He felt there was need for good regulations, and if the dairymen of the Dominion could be induced to take every care they would be able to produce butter equal to that manufactured in Denmark. • Mr Schmidt suggested thdt the New Zealand Government should copy the Australian legislation on this subject. The President said that there were demands in these regulations which were unreasonable, and it seemed to him that they had been drawn up by some one lucking practical experience. So far, however, in the Waikato the dairy inspectors had made no unreasonable demands of the farmers. It was decided to h«itd meetings of dairy farmers at various centres to consider the auestion of the regulations.
