Y.M.C.A. PICNIC.

A SUCCESSFUL AFFAIR,

Ideal weather prevailed for the Y.M.C.A. picnic at Messrs Welch .Bros, farm, Opaki, the attendance being good and the outing greatly enjoyed. The following competitioi.s were held, all being of an interesting nature:— Nail-driving Competition.—Miss F. Miller 1 (Mr H. T. Wood's trophy), Mrs Tait 2 (Mr C. E. Daniell's trophy). Tug-of-War (men).—The winning team was composed of R.. Burgess,.• R. Hatch, W. Kemp, C. ibbetson, H. T. Harper and J. S. Peters. Mr Winzenherg has donated a copy of the group ta each of the winning team. Tug-of-War (ladies).—The winning team was composed of Misses E. Gillespie, W. Carpenter, K. MeGuire, M. Falk, S. Thompson and I. McLachlao. Mr Wilton has donated a copy of the group to each of the winning tearr. Blindfold Driving Competition.— Mr-and Mr's Parton 1, laay's trophy donated by Mr Heyhoe, and gents' trophy donated by Mr Hendry; Mrr W. Kemp and Miss Eatley 2. Apple Bobbing Race. —Mr; Hebenton and Miss H. Robbins, 1, gent's trophy donated by Mr Elliott and lady's trophy donated by Hoar find Fermair. Junior Apple Bobbing.—J. L. Thompson and Myra Giddingsl, toys donated by Miss F..A. Smith. Boyt.' Ra':e. —J. L. Thompson, 1; Owen Welch 2. Whistling Race. —D. Hebenton >ind Miss Parton 1, books donated by Messrs Inns and Goddard; Mr Kemp and tVli-s Salter 2. Thd Lndies' Auxiliary workedenergetically at the refreshment counter, and much of the credit for the succe-s? of the picnic is due to their work. Messrs R. Brown and A. Hendry did good work as judges,, and Mr Jarret raada an efficient starter. Mr R. Burgess, the General Secretary, worked most assiduously, everywhere looking to details which involved a lot of work. The spot • being such an ideal picnic locality,, those who journeyed out spent a. happy day in one way and Drags were used to convey the picnickers to and from Masterton.
