Mr C. A. Bluett, the well-known builder and contractor, has just finished a line up-to-date building for Mr W. .1, Parker, of Hamua, which reflects great credit on the builder. It is stated that when the PahiatuaCcarborough footpath is completed, a large number of Pahiatua residents intend to reside at Scarborough, recently re-named "M-angamutu," as it is considered to be healthy and dry, and is very handy to the Pahiatua Railway Station. Mr Bluett is at present putting the finishing touches to a smart, uo-todate residence, with all conveniences in this locality for a tenant, and-it is bis intention to erect houses of a similar pattern for Pahiatua residents. One particular featui'e of th 3 house referred to is the handsome metalled ceilings and cornices. The Commercial Buildings, Mr 1. P. Wills' jf.hemist shop, and the Public Library, three of tho most handsome bjilclings in the town, were erected by Mr Bluett. Detective Quirke was in this district yesterday on matters in connection with the recent alleged,, sheep-; stealing from that,--, If our E ate. The famous "Kiltie" Band, now touring New Zealand, will give a performance in Pahiatua on 'lhursoay .next, and a movement is on foot amongct the local jhopkeepers to observe th? half-holiday on Thursday afternoon next instead of the usual Wednesday afternoon.

Mr J. Kelly, lata of Ormondville, has been at the Pahiatua Railway Station for the last month,, learning th: tablet system.- Mr Kelly has been transferred to Waikanae on the Manawatu line. . ..

Exceptionally fine weather has been experienced here since Sunday, and although the sun has bern very hot daring the day the evenings have bean delightfully cool. At, the, fortnightly, meeting of the Pahiatua Fire Brigade last evening matters in cuunecfiion with sending tha team to the Auckland Demonstration in, Mar :'u. next were fully discussed. Four sate of swivel lugs have ieen obtained for practicing for the demonstration. It was decided to secure a long service medal for Fireman F. -Parkes.

Glorious weather prevailed to-day for the annual picnic of St. Peters' Sunday School, which was held in a fine spot about half-way between Konini and Pahiatua. The children were conveyed in Mr S. Girdwood's drags, and they were given an enjoyable day'a outing. Tha cricket match "Married" v. "Single" did not eventuate to-day, a sufficient number of players not being present. A good practice was held between those who rolled up.

A public meeting will be held in the Olympic Theatre to-morrow (Thursday) evening to discuss the Post Office site question.

DAIRY NOTES

The manager of the Konini (J3allance No. 2) Factory informed me yesterday that the milk supply was keeping up well this year—much better than in other seasons—over 70 boxes of. butter being manufactured daily, and the largest supplier is delivering daily 2r,4001bs of milk. Ihe average test is about 3.8, which is exceedingly good for the large quantity of milk supplied. i
