LABOUR DEPARTMENT.

CHANGES IN STAFF

By Telegraph—Press Association

WELLINGTON, February 3,

The appointment of Mr B. Halley, of the Dunedin office of the Labour Department, to be a Conciliation Commissioner, has necessitated a large number of changes in the Department's staff. There have been two new appointments, viz., Mr R. T. Bailey (late secretary of the Canterbury Trades and Labour Council), who becomes an inspector of factories in the Taihape district, and Mr W. G. Lightfoot (secretary of the Carpenters' and Joiners' Union), who will be made an inspector of factories. Mr Le Cren, late inspector of awards at Wellington, assumes charge of the Dunedin office at the beginning of next week. Mr W. Newton, of the Christchurch office, replaces Mr Le Cren as inspector of awards in Wellington, and has already arrived.

Mr H. & Bower has been transferred to take charge of the Invercargill office, in place of Mr L. D. Browett, who proceeds to Christchurch as assistant inspector. Mr G. E. A. Hood, inspector in charge of the Wairarapa district, transfers to Cbristchruch in place of Mr Bower. Mr J. Georgeson, in charge of the Rangitikei district, succeeds Mr Hood in the Wairarapa.
