The clerk of the Featherston ' County Council wrote re the matter j of proposed boundary alterations, j statinir that a committee of five had been set up to confer with a similar committee iro:n the Wairarapa South County Council. -It was resolved that the committee should arrange with the Featherston committee to take steps to legalise the Wangaehu Road. A complaint as to the state of the road through the Mahapuku settlement was received from Mrs J. A. McLean and Mr A. C. Gawith, who ■ asked that the water tables be cleaned.—lt was decided to call the attention of the writers to the fact that their complaint was a matter for the Featherston Council. Messrs R. E. and G. W. Vennell, Te Wharau, wrote to state that they were clearing away ail the felled bush from their side of the boundary fence, and asked the Council to con- i sider the question of clearing away | the debris from the other side, and so j ensure the safety of the fence from j fire. J The Health Inspector wrote concerning the state of a house at Belvedere, gowned by a resident of Lower i Hutt, stating that it was almost un- | fit for human habitation. A certifi- I ■ cate of condemnation was attached, j j but i.v the owner preferred to carry ' j out certain alterations, it would nK • j be necessary to demolish the builci- j J ing.—The clerk reported that the j , owner had informed him that he was prepared to have the building demolished. I Mr T. J. Rathbone waited on the ! Council calling attention to the state of Admiral Road for traction traffic. If the Council were prepared to cart ' the metal out to the other side of the ; Ruamahanga bridge, he would arI range for its distribution, i C'r Strang drew the Council's atI terition to the fact that the loads carried by traction engines were far : ' too heavy. I 1 Mr Rathbone claimed that the j loaas put on his engine were reason- j ' able. In addition, he did a little to the roads. i ; Cr Mason said that he had seen the loads carried by Mr Rathbone's traction engine, and they were reasonable, and not only that his engine , 1 was taken over th 3 bridges very care- i fully. _ I | Councillors considered that the ' suggestion regarding the metal was | ' good, but considered others who t ; gained a benefit should assist in the j 'work. i It was decided to have the metal (twenty loads) put ori the roadside ' as requested, for the engine to pick up. It was resolved to call tenders for three hundred yards of metal for Somerset Road. It was resolved to go on with the Tupurupuru Road formation. A. Reeves J was endorsed. | It was decided to attach a notice to ; the Wainuioru bridge, warning the public against travelling over the j same at a greater pace than a walk, j It was decided to approach the ) member for the district and ask him j to endeavour to obtain the unexpend- j ed grants approved by the Council, ] especially the Wangaehu and East i Coast Roads grants. The cutt- _ ing on the north side of Hopper's

Creek on this rued has ajso been metalled. The stones in the rr.etelling put out by the Government Reads Depar+ment on Miller's Ror;d have, for the most part, been left unbroken, and if left as at present will be an expense to the Council at a later date. Odd leads of metal have also been put. out in two different places on this road, and are dangerous to traffic. It would he advisable for the Council to try and get the Department to improve th'jse matters before the large stones get set into the surface of the road. General repairs have been on the East Coast Road, and on Driscoll Road. The new gravel reserve at Bank View has been fenced, as also the front of the reserve opposite Bank View homestead. A spring on the road at this place has also been tapped and a barrel fitted as a drinking place for travelling stock. The metalling contract on the Flat Point Road has been completed.
