GROUNDLESS ALARM. Received January 28, 10.25 a.m. MELBOURNE, January 28. The Commonwealth Defence Department declines to recognise Simonshafen, in New Britain, as likely to be any menace to the Commonwealth for at least many years to come. The place is tnt fortified, and doe 3 not present facilities for fortification, I so to make it an effective naval base.
