To-dav a telegram signed jointly by Messrs Laurenson, Ell, Witty, Russell, and Davey, M.P.'a, was despatched to the Hon. J. A. Millar, Minister for Railways, asking him to make the enquiry into the charges against the employees at the Addington Railway Workshops as public as possible, so that the people of the Dominion would be able to decide whether or not the charges were groundless. The following reply was received : —"lt is proposed to hold a public enquiry, not a Departmental one. It will be held by persons altogether outside the railway service, ar.d will be open t6 the Press. I think you will agree that it cannot be more public than this, and when the published I think you wlil be satified. —J. A. MILLAR."
