EKETAHUNA.
'{From Our Own Correspondent.) The ordinary meeting of Court, Makakahi, A.0.F., was held on Tuesday night, Bro. Nicol, C.R., presiding over an excellent attendance of members. It was resolved, on the motion of Bro. Cittadini, that P.C.R. Bro. Wise's name be placed on the respect board, and that a distinguishing badge be presented to him for completion of his second term in the C.E. chair. A motion -of sympathy was passed to Bros. P. Fauvel, senr., and P. Fauvel, junr., •in their recent bereavement. Bro. M. Knight, on behalf of Bro. Fauvel, presented the Court with two enlarged photos of the High Court meeting in England, which Bro. Fauvel recently attended. A meeting of the A.O.F. Sports Committee, to arrange for sports on March 17th, was held on Tuesday evening, when the following resolutions were passed—That the sports be held on March 17th, as previously arranged; that military events be -substituted for sawing and chopping events; that the sports be for cash, and not affiliated with any association ; that a deputation, consisting nf Bms. French, wait on the Mayer at 8 p.m. on Saturday to make Ground; that the Programme Committee consist of Bros. Nicol, Wise, Gr athead and Cittadini. The meeting was adjourned for a fot light, when the reports ot the committees will be received. The swing bridge on the Masterton Koad, wtiicii gives access over the.river to the prettiest piece of bush near Eketahuna, is in need of repair. The Parkville Domain Trustees are responsible for the bridge, and although, I understand, that they have ample funds for the purpose, they have not moved in the matter. Trie" Borough Council, though the bridge is not in Borough boundary, voted a sum of money a month ago to repair the bridge, but nothing has been done. Mr S. Bartlettt, contractor for the power-iiojse, commenced to lay the foundations this (Wednesday) morning. The ceremonv of laying the first brick will be performed on Friday morning at 10 o'clock, probably by Mrs Herbert (Mayoress).
