MASTERTON FIRE BOARD.
QUARTERLY MEETING. The quarterly meeting of the Masterton Fire Board was held last evening. Mr 0. N. C. Pragnell occupied the chair, and there were also present Messrs W. Morris, J. H. Pauling, and J. G. Ewington. of absence was granted to the Wellington members, and it was decided, after discussion, to call the next meeting on a Monday, Tuesday, or Friday, at a time to suit the convenience of the Wellington members. The bye-laws prepared by the' secretary were adopted, sealed, and ordered to be sent to the Minister for gazetting. It was resolved to give the Masterton South Band the free use of the shed at the back of the Central Station for a practice shed. The seal of the Board was affixed to a deed of lease from Mrs Hourig'an to the Board for a piece of land in Villa Street to bs used for a hose and reel station. Superintendent Jenkins asked the Board to arrange for one or two men to sleep at Kuripuni Station. Messrs Pauling and Ewington were appointed a committee to have the fire well, near Messrs Hyde in Qusen Street, cleaned I and deepened, and to fix up the
sluice gates. The members present were appointed a committee to have a new fire well put in opposite the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile's premises, in Chapel Street. It was decided to refund the Brigade the cost of insuring the members engaged in competitions, and donate £2 per head towards expenses of teams and delegates to the Auckland competition. It was decided to pay an honorarium of £lO 10s to the Captain of the Fire Police as from January Ist.
