ST. JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGADE.
DISTRICT NURSING FUND BAZAAR, A general meeting of the Ladies' Committee in connection with the District Nursing Fund Bazaar was held in the Dominion Hall last evening. Mrs M. C. O'Connell was voted to the chair. Jt was decided that a "sewing bee" should be started on Tuesday week in the Dominion Hall and be held every Friday afternoon and evening. Miss Gillespie was deputed to arrange for the loan of two sewing machines. It was decided that Mesdames Redman and Joy take charge of the plain sewing stall and obtain such additional help as they deem necessary; that Mrs Cairns take charge of the flower stall, and that Mesdames O'Connell, Mutrie, Montgomery, Tait and Marley take charge of No. 1 fancy stall. It was decided that Mrs Kavanagh compile a Book of Tried Recipes, each to be signed by the giver, and the executive b3 recommended to appoint a canvasser iyt advertisements for this book, which it is proposed to sell at \a each.
A meeting of the Executive was held last night, Mr Alex. Donald being voted to the chair. It was decided that His Excellency the Governor and Lady Plunket and the Hon. A. W. Hogg, M.P., be patrons of the Bazaar. The Mayor was unanimously elected President. It was decided that the following four vice-presidents be appointed to act as chairman of committees: Messrs Alex. Donald, J. Hunter, M. C. O'Connell and Dr P. H. Cook. The reoort of the Ladies' Committee | was read and adopted, It was decided that the Borough Council stall bo an art stall. The secretary was instructed to write to the Wairarapa Amateur Swimming Club inviting their co-operation. It was decided that an Art Union be held in connection with the Bazaar, and that Mr O'Connell and the secretary be a committee in connection therewith, with .power to add to their number. It was decided to issue an official handbook in connection with the Bazaar, the compilation to be left in the hands of the secretary. It was resolved to issue the Cookery Book recommended by the Ladies' Committee, with the addition of certain useful information in connection with ambulance matters (First Aid), and that a cookery competition be held, and that prizes be offered for the competition. A meeting of the Nursing Guild will be held next Wednesday evening, when the balance of the stalls will be allotted amongst the members and further routine work will be considered. _
