DROWNING ACCIDENT.

JBy Telegraph—Press Association. GISBORNE, January 26. Miss Dora Griffin, aged 22 years, second daughter of Rev. Griffin, Wesleyan Minister, was drowned in the School Baths at mid-day. The deceased, who was a splendid swimmer, had only entered the water a few moments when her elder sister observed her in distress. While unsuccessful in the attempt at rescue the latter got into difficulties herself. Mrs Griffin also plunged in with her clothes on. The two were assisted out by two young men, who were attracted by the screaming.
