RIFLE SHOOTING.

Colonel Coll'np, the executive officer of the New Zealand Defence Forces Rifle Associa ion, has sent the following circular to every rifle club and volunteer corps in the Dominion:—"The Executive Council of the New Zealand Defence Forces Rifle Association is desirous of encouraging: a keener competition in the teams - ' matches, and with that object in view has arranged a series of matches for the next meeting at Trentham, which are open to e\erv Volunteer Company, and Rifle Club in New Zealand, and the Council hopes to see every company and club represented. Six matches, as under, have been placed on the programme, and £l3l in cash arizes have been allotted to this series. Matches 13 to 17 are open to teams of six men, with a commander who shall not tire, and match 18 to teams of five men. All ranks may compete, and the inclusion of the same men throughout is not necessary; £3 per team is th» entrance fee for the six matches. A unit can enter one or more teams.
Match 13—Section Firing Match, prize £lO. Match 14—Cover Firinar Match, prize £lO. Match 15 —Servica Target Match, prize £lO. Match IS—Rapid Firing Match, prize £lO. Match 17—Colonial Ammunition Co.'s Match, prize £lO. Match 18—Champion Team Match, prize £57 10s. Teams Championship, prizo £24. The five teams making the biggest total aggre £ate points iri the above matches will be awarded the prizes in the Teams' Championship.
