GIRL STOWAWAYS.

A PATHETIC STORY. Two girl stowaways were discovered on the steamer Victoria during the trip from Sydney to Auckland. One of the girls told a pathetic story. She said she came from near Sydney, and that both father and mother were dead. She had been living with a brother, but, owing to his ill-treatment, she had decided to run away, and, having heard there was good prospect of employment in New Zealand she stowed away on the ship. The passengers on board subscribed sufficient to pay the passage of the two girls, and the money was handed over to Captain Entwistle, with a stipulation that the girls should place themselves in the care of the Salvation Army until employment was found for them.
