MISHAP TO THE ENNERDALE.

THE MARINE ENQUIRY. CHARGE OF MISCONDUCT. MELBOURNE, January 23. A Marine Court is holding an enquiry into a charge of misconduct against the captain of the steamer Ennerdale, arising uut of the accident on January 6th. The captain claimed that the vessel struck an unchartered rock.

Tho court was of opinion that the captain should have remained on the bridge till the danger zone had been passed, instead of leaving the second mate in charge in untravelled waters, and should have taken other precautions. As the court, however, was not in a position to determine whether the vessel struck a chartered or unchartered obstruction, it gave the captain the benefit of the doubt, and dismissed the charge against him.
